Jessica M. Wilcox, L.Ac, is passionate about treating patients of all ages and stages of life, but has had a life-long passion in treating the elderly.  This passion motivated her to graduate from SUNY Brockport with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Minor in Gerontology.   She has worked with many healthcare professionals in several different healthcare facilities from east coast to west coast.

In Seattle, WA , she passionately absorbed and learned all she could in the Geriatric field with topics that ranged from death and dying, stages in grieving, phenomenon of caregivers' decline, and to innovative improvements in nursing home environments and dementia care.  She grew restless in the geriatric field.  She felt the aging process and counseling for the elderly was unnatural and was written off as normal, even though she observed daily each elderly declining at a different rate.  She began questioning and searching for other ways to help elderly patients and their caregivers to gracefully move through the aging process.

At this time, she went to her first acupuncture treatment for a sprained ankle and fever.  Within the first treatment her fever was reduced and several treatments later her ankle improved.   As she used acupuncture to heal her ankle, she began to reap other benefits from the acupuncture treatments which included helping improve and maintain her health, losing weight and sleeping better, relaxing her mind and emotions, and helping her focus better.  It was at this time, that her Acupuncturist in Seattle planted a seed in her ear that she should be an acupuncturist too!

Even as a child, she has been interested in energy and healing. Her curiosity continued her to passionately search for a more natural, compassionate, holistic way to treat the mind, body, and spirit.  Over the years, she acquired certificates in Reiki, hypnotherapy, and mindfulness meditation and learned several different kinds meditation and relaxation techniques, but she felt they alone lacked the deep relaxation she experienced with her acupuncture treatments.  This journey led her to apply to New England School of Acupuncture in Massachusetts, the first acupuncture school in the United States and remains one of the most prestigious academic acupuncture schools in the United States.  In 2006, she earned a Master in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) in Chinese & Japanese Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.  The combination of her education, her past healthcare work experience and her acquired certificates enables her to draw from vast treatment options, insights, and create powerful customized individual treatment plans for her patients.
